Motorists in the Western Cape (including the Theewaterskloof Municipal area) will not be receiving a renewal notice if your licence disc expires on 31 December 2016.
While the National Department of Transport is in the process of transferring the electronic National Traffic Information System (eNATIS) to the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) the authorities are not able to send these notices to motorists. The eNATIS system is currently managed centrally at the National Department of Transport, which includes the issuing of motor vehicle renewal notices.
This transition will directly affect the thousands of motorists in the Western Cape who are required to renew their licence discs by the end of December 2016 and possibly by 31 January 2017.
Those who are affected should renew their licences timeously and motorists are urged to take these steps before the 21 days grace period ends. Motorists are urged to be pro-active in checking their licence disk renewal status, and ensuring that they renew in time to avoid penalties.
Affected motorists can contact or visit any of the three Motor Registration Offices in TWK, situated in Caledon, Villiersdorp and Riviersonderend for further assistance.
Please remember to bring your South African Identity Document, proof of vehicle licence disc or vehicle registration form and proof of physical and postal address. Proof of address can include a utility bill issued by the Municipality, a telephone account or retail store account (provided that it is not older than three months).
